The American Center of Regenerative Medicine in Georgia - RegMed Georgia - was founded in 2021 by Tengiz Tkebuchava.
Tengiz Tkebuchava,MD PhD, is the founder and director of this Center in Georgia. He is also the Founder and CEO of Boston Transtech, a medical device company in the United States.
He has many years of experience in cardiovascular surgery, regenerative bioagent research/therapy, as well as experience in new projects and medical device invention and development.
He graduated from Tbilisi State Medical University of Georgia with Summa Cum Laude, continued his work at the Bakulev Cardiovascular Surgery Center in Moscow and defended his PhD there. In 1989, he was invited to Switzerland, where he continued his career in world-class cardiac surgery centers in Zurich and London. In 1997, he moved to the US, where he was granted American citizenship as an “Alien of Extraordinary Ability”.
While a professor at Tufts University in Boston, he made presentations and lectured at Harvard and other universities. He has invented and patented various technologies. He has published extensively about cardiac surgeries on children and adults with various congenital and acquired cardiovascular pathologies, as well as described new options for heart transplants. These surgical innovations are in practice in hospitals around the world.
Dr. Tkebuchava was one of the pioneers in the development of regenerative medicine; he has tested the therapeutic effect of various regenerative agents and their combinations, investigated optimal ways of introducing them into the heart, and conducted numerous experimental operations. He has been an advisor/expert to leading medical companies, including giants Medtronic, Johnson & Johnson, Boston Scientific, General Electric, and others.
He is the author of a wide range of publications and inventions, as well as a speaker at various national and international conferences.
During the socio-political and economic crisis in Georgia in the 90s, he was intensively engaged in charity work, providing medical aid, food, and other emergency resources to victims. Dr. Tkebuchava's charitable activities were mentioned in the American Congress and reported on the "Voice of America" radio.
Cardiac surgeon Tengiz Tkebuchava has been working abroad since the 80s. He always convinced that an alternative to surgery was needed, and therefore dedicated many years to regenerative medicine.
He deeply believes that his innovations, including those patented in the US, will help millions of people around the world recover from previously incurable diseases.
To the clinic, he brought with him international experience and a new approach to regenerative therapy and technological inventions, thereby laying the foundation for the establishment and development of this revolutionary field in our country.
He travels between Georgia and the US regularly, attends conferences and workshops in the US, and discusses his new therapeutic approaches with his American colleagues. His family is still in Boston.
